Walking 50km in a day
In May 2016 I attempted, for the third time, to walk 50km in one day. The walk is for charity, usually poverty stricken kids and families in Uganda but they have also supported Victorian Teen Suicide Prevention in the past. It is also a big physical challenge for walkers and in some cases people run the entire way. We walk through the Dandenongs and the ups and downs always get to my knees about three quarters of the way through. I pulled out the second time due to intense pain in my knees but otherwise I have pushed through. Interestingly what I found made a huge difference was that in my 2 successful walks there was at least one person, who with their their mental strength and solid walking, pulled me through to the end.
